PTR-Precision Technologies is a worldwide leader in the manufacture of electron beam welding equipment and advanced weld process development services. PTR has been manufacturing EB equipment in Connecticut for over 60 years and providing contract welding services using the latest in machine technology for over 35 years. We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Service Team. The position is responsible for resolving technical problems that occur both in-house, and at customer sites.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and manufacturing of electron beam welding machines and by helping both in-house and off-site customers by responding to their requests for service in a timely and efficient manner as well as establishing and maintaining proper business relationships with them. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of traveling to customer sites, working in-house on machine builds, and who has a knack for troubleshooting and fixing things.
This position is based out of Enfield, CT and is required to travel 50% of the time, sometimes out of the country, and requires a valid US Passport.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and manufacturing of electron beam welding machines
- Completing Preventative Maintenance and field modifications
- Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner
- Coordinate and participate in the planning, writing, and publishing an all-inclusive company proprietary troubleshooting manual
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of PLC and CNC controls, digital and linear circuits, and solid mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, AC and DC motor control, high voltage 480-volt circuits
- Ability to use hand tools, solder, and wire
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning ability
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner
- Able to organize documentation, both hard-copy and electronic
- Able to systematically train themselves by utilizing available in-house knowledge
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of Associates Electrical Mechanical Maintenance or Similar or 5 years’ experience
- Experience or equivalent education servicing or troubleshooting CNC machine tools preferred
- Computer skills, with proficiency with MS, Word, Outlook, and Excel required
- Welding, high voltage, or vacuum technology knowledge helpful. PTR will train-
