Former PTR-employee Don Powers, a pioneer in the field of Electron Beam Welding, passed away peacefully at 90 years old. Don was a long time Hamilton Standard, Leybold-Heraeus & later PTR-Precision Technologies, Inc. employee.
Aside from being part of the team at Hamilton's Industrial Group that first brought electron beam processing over to the United States; he was an active lifetime American Welding Society Member and a founding member of the AWS's C7B Subcommittee for Electron Beam Welding and Cutting. He has been recognized as an E-beam expert for many years by the National Labs, various Government agencies and many industry leaders. He held many prominent positions througout his career here at PTR- including Sales Manager, and once retired he continued on as a Technical Consultant helping PTR + the larger Global Beam Technologies (GBT) group of EB Welding companies. He truly will be missed by all that knew or worked with him, and his contributions to the industry will be appreciated for years to come.
