| Description: | Multiple Pins in a Plate | This orthopedic implant is used to anchor a prosthetic device to a bone. Due to the size of these implants, a precise beam is required to weld multiple pins in close proximity. This biocompatible material is preferably welded in a vacuum to avoid contamination through reactions with atmospheric gases. In this process electron beam deflection is used to weld the pins and mechanical part motion is used to index from part to part unitl the batch is completed. One assembly is completely welded in roughly 4 seconds. After welding there is additional machining to prepare the part for final use. |
